My name is Alivia Africa and I am so excited to be a teacher at A Step Above Dance and Music Academy for the 2nd year. Watching all the kids during practice, rehearsals, competitions and recital last year was such a great experience. Being able to watch them grow not only in their skills but in their confidence and friendships as well. A Step Above is truly A Step Above and beyond.

Alivia's Dance Bio
Hi all! My name is Alivia Africa I am so excited to be a teacher at A Step Above Dance and Music Academy for the 2nd year. Watching all the kids during practice, rehearsals, competitions and recital last year was such a great experience. Being able to watch them grow not only in their skills but in their confidence and friendships as well. A Step Above is truly A Step Above and beyond.
I am originally from Iowa City, IA, but recently relocated to the Madison area last year. Previously, I was a competitive dancer for 15 years. I was a member of the National Dance Academy in Iowa and competed at different competitions throughout the Midwest. In 2015 I joined the local high school dance team in Iowa City. There, I placed 1st at state and 11th at the national competition for Jazz.
Following my competitive dance career, I attended the University of Iowa where I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. I have always had a great love for teaching and educating, but while doing so I started to miss being in the studio and being in the dance environment surrounded by the creativity it allowed me to express growing up. This brought me to A Step Above Dance and Music Academy. I can’t wait to see where this year takes us all and I’m excited to see the growth in each one of your kiddos!
