A Step Above Dance & Music Academy offers toddler and preschool dance classes for ages 2–7 in Monona, WI, serving families throughout Madison, McFarland, Cottage Grove and surrounding communities.
Our youngest dancers learn in a safe, positive and age-appropriate environment where classes are designed specifically for their stage of development.
At A Step Above, we believe little kids should get to be little kids. Dance should be fun while also helping them develop confidence, independence, coordination, musicality and important classroom skills.
Dance Classes Designed for Young Children
Our Children's Program introduces dancers to movement and dance fundamentals through classes created specifically for their age.
Creative Movement | Ages 2–3
The perfect introduction to dance! Dancers explore music and movement using age-appropriate activities, props, rhymes, stories and creative play.
Children begin developing coordination, body awareness, musicality, listening skills and confidence while learning how to participate in a dance class.
Preballet | Ages 3–4
Preschool dancers begin learning basic ballet concepts while continuing to explore movement, music and creativity.
Classes encourage independence, coordination, classroom skills and a love of dance in a positive and encouraging environment.
Dance Classes for Ages 4–7
As dancers grow, our curriculum grows with them. Students begin developing stronger dance fundamentals while continuing to learn through an age-appropriate approach.
Depending on age and class availability, dancers may explore ballet, tap, hip hop, acro, musical theater and more.
